KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioner Don Cooney is officially seeking re-election to the city's Board of Commissioners.  Cooney has already served eight terms on the board, and says that he feels there is still much more work to do in improving life for the residents of the City of Kalamazoo.

In the past, Cooney helped to found the Communities in Schools Program, the Poverty Reduction Initiative, the Kalamazoo Coalition for a Living Wage, and he helped to organize the effort to keep the EPA from dumping PCBs in the middle of a Kalamazoo neighborhood in 2007.  Currently, he's working with the Half in Ten campaign, an effort to cut the nation's poverty rate by half in ten years or less.
