KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo’s County Prosecutor wants to charge Fred Glespie, with three counts of involuntary manslaughter in addition to four counts of 2nd Degree Child abuse.
Glespie is the teenager they say is responsible for the deaths of three toddlers in a fire at the Interfaith Apartments. It could add years to the sentence if he is convicted. The additional counts were leveled at the Preliminary hearing for the 19-year-old this week.
Jonetta Woods testified that she left him with her children. Prosecutors say he didn’t stick around and a fire broke out killing three of the four children present.
He has denied it, blaming her for leaving the kids alone.
Dead are 3-year-old twins Te’Niya Williams and Tevin Williams and 1year old Ty’Onna Henderson.
Judge Paul Bridenstine said he will need additional time to weigh the new charges and will issue a ruling on August 14th.
