KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo’s Noise Task Force says it needs more information on how to control decibel levels before coming up with recommendations on changing a city noise ordinance.
The group has scheduled another meeting in two weeks, but they are also narrowing in on a compromise recommendation.
It could let the festivals continue until 1:00 or 1:30 in the morning but only if they turn down the volume.
Deb Droppers, the Organizer of this weekend’s Ribfest, says the festivals garnered only 7 complaints about noise all last summer, and they try to be responsible.
But Task Force Chair Grant Fletcher says times are changing, more people are living downtown and there was bound to be conflicts.
The Task Force will meet on the 12th of August and just need a few pieces of the puzzle to come up with a consensus. The final decision will be up to the city commission.
