KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It’s still in the planning stages but, Kalamazoo Valley Community College has partnered with Kalamazoo Community Health Services to build a new campus near Crosstown Parkway and the New Bronson Hospital Campus dedicated to healthy living, healthy eating and healthy minds.
They will be constructing it on 13.3 acres donated by Bronson Healthcare.
KVCC Spokeswoman Linda Depta says it will be dedicated to Wellness and Food Sustainability.
The goal will be to turn out the ‘next generation of agricultural and culinary leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to work at the intersection of health, environmental, and social concerns.”
But Depta says it is still a work in progress, they are still fundraising and there is no specific timetable yet for construction or the start of classes.
The college will operate two of the three facilities, one for food production and distribution training, another for their nursing program and a culinary training center.
The third facility will be the new Psychiatric Clinic operated by Kalamazoo Community Health Services.
The 13.3 acres directly to the east of the New Bronson Campus is currently used for parking.
