PORTAGE (WKZO) -- There will be an event in Portage on Saturday to remember the Korean War. The war ended 60 years ago this weekend, and Ken Medema, Administrator with the Portage Veterans Memorial, says at eleven AM, the American Legion and VFW will be at the memorial, next to the Portage Library, to hear from speakers and pay tribute to those who served.
A guest speaker will be a master chief form the US Navy, Josh Turner. They'll also have a2 1 gun salute and a singing of the national anthem. Later on, there will be Korean food to celebrate 60 years of freedom for South Korea.
While many call the Korean War "The Forgotten War," over 36 thousand American soldiers died in the three year conflict.
