KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder told a crowd at Kalamazoo Senior Services yesterday that Detroit’s bankruptcy may be daunting and dealing with the legislature on Healthy Michigan has been difficult, but the toughest challenge he has faced in life was helping his aging parents deal with their last few years.
He had a dad who didn’t want help, even if he needed it, and a mom who wanted to stay in her home but couldn't maintain the place on her own.
He made the comments as he saluted Senior Services on their 50th Anniversary. He says many of the challenges he faced are addressed by the services they provide.
They held a big celebration with tents and food, music and speeches at their facility on Jasper Street Wednesday afternoon.
