OSHTEMO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo County Deputies have released the name of the elderly man who died when his moped was struck by a Ford Taurus at Stadium and 11th Street late Saturday morning.
Deputies say the driver of the eastbound car, who is not being identified, failed to yield to the moped, which was turning onto 11th from Stadium at the intersection. The traffic signal at the intersection had been disabled at the time by the power outages.
74-year-old Clarence Bowman of Kalamazoo was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.
The accident remains under investigation, and charges may result against the 34-year-old Kalamazoo man who was behind the wheel of the Taurus.
