KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Fire investigators suspect arson may be the cause of a suspicious fire in a vacant home on Kalamazoo’s north side.
The Fire Marshal spent several hours on the scene of the fire, collecting samples for testing. The fire was first reported about 3:30 Sunday afternoon by neighbors, one of which reportedly saw a man running from the property at 727 N. Westnedge.
The home is directly across Ada Street from The North Pole Party Store and a mini-mall across Westnedge.
Most of the flames were confined to the second story but there is smoke and water damage throughout the home and all the windows are busted out.
The home was supposed to be vacant at the time of the fire.
There is a $5000 standing reward for anyone who turns in an arsonist and gives information that leads to a conviction.
