LEIGHTON TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A family in Allegan County says knowing how to administer CPR may have saved their child.
They were spending Saturday at Round Lake, going swimming in the afternoon with everyone wearing life preservers.
They took them off and were gathered around the dock fishing Saturday evening when they noticed their 3-year-old was missing. They found the toddler in 3-feet of water and unresponsive.
They immediately began CPR. The first Deputies on the scene took over and then EMS paramedics arrived and they were able to revive the child, who they say is expected now to make a full recovery.
They are calling it an accidental drowning, and believe the child was underwater for only a short time before CPR was begun.
