COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A meeting is set for Thursday at the Comstock Community Auditorium for everyone to learn more about Enbridge's plans to dredge the Kalamazoo River as part of 2010 oil spill clean up. Comstock Township Supervisor Ann Nieuwenhuis says that the company plans to use a site in the Comstock Commerce Park to dump and process the sediment removed from the river, and that doesn't sit well with many locals.
She says the location is right by Bell's Brewery and a residential neighborhood. Nieuwenhuis thinks there are better places, perhaps right across the river nearby.
Enbridge representatives will explain to the planning commission why the company's proposal should get local approval at a Thursday meeting, and the public will also have its chance to comment. The meeting will be at the Comstock Community Auditorium at seven PM.
