ALLEGAN COUNTY (WKZO) -- A post mortem is planned on a 34-year-old man who jumped off a boat off the shore of Lake Michigan and drowned, despite the heroic efforts of his 6-year-old daughter to drag him to shore.

Nathan John Luna made the dive late Thursday afternoon in about three feet of water.

It’s not clear if he hit bottom or had some other problem but he was not responsive when he was pulled to shore on a private beach between Castle Park and Laketown Beach.

His family began CPR until Emergency Responders took over and continued attempts to revive him but he had no heartbeat when he arrived at Holland Hospital and was pronounced dead about an hour and a half after the fatal dive.
