HASTINGS (WKZO) --Admitted double murderer Harold Ordway was due to be sentenced in a Hastings courtroom this morning, but that hearing has been delayed a month because his lawyer had a conflict.
Ordway has entered a plea to second degree murder in the shooting death of Paul Atchley. His blood soaked mattress was found in the bed of Ordway’s pick-up truck after a fender bender in Allegan County.
Atchley’s body has never been found. Ordway apparently confessed that he committed that killing to cover up the fact that he strangled another roommate, Michael Van Buskirk.
His body was found dumped in a field near Vicksburg, but was too badly decomposed to determine a cause of death. As part of his deal with prosecutors, he hasn’t been charged with that crime.
His sentencing has been rescheduled for August 15th.
