BUENA VISTA (WKZO) -- Board members in the Buena Vista Public School district have approved a state loan that will be used pay off a previous loan.
The Michigan Department of the Treasury provided the money under the Emergency Municipal Loan Act. The board will begin to make payments on the previous loan beginning August 20th.
Board President Randy Jackson said money left over after the first loan is repaid will be used to pay teachers. The school district faces an estimated 3.7-million dollar deficit and is not expected to reopen until the fall.
