SCHOOLCRAFT (WKZO) -- The Schoolcraft Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious person behind Bud's Bar in the 200-block of North Grand Street around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. On the scene in just two minutes, it was found that someone had made a forced entry at the back of the business.
A Vicksburg Police Officer also responding arrived just in time to see a suspect flee the building, and officers gave chase. At one point, a concerned citizen that had reported the original incident to police had the suspect run by him, threatening the caller with a screwdriver.
Portage Public Safety, Vicksburg Police, and Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter in the area. A K-9 unit tracked the suspect down nearby and he was arrested without further incident. Charges against the 33-year-old man from Grass Lake are pending following a review of the case by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office.
