KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Director Jim Bridenstine is stepping down after 23 years on the job. He says that the KIA will spend the next year or so looking for his replacement, and he'll stick around to help during that process.
Bridenstine says he's proud of what the KIA has been able to accomplish over the years, noting the quality of its collection. He says the Institute has an eclectic and well respected collection of art because it's always been focused on quality, not quantity.
Bridenstine started his career studying law, but ended up going into art in grad school. Now, after 23 years at the KIA, he's retiring.
