Detroit, MI (WKZO) -- The have announced 2nd baseman Omar Infante has been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to July 4. Hernan Perez was recalled from Double-A Erie to replace Infante on the active roster. Infante had not played since July 3rd due to a sprained ankle and will be eligible to be activated from the DL when the Tigers return to action after the All-Star break. The 31-year old Infante was batting .309 with six home runs and 27 RBIs this season. Perez, 22, played in two games with the Tigers in 2012 and was hitting .300 in 86 games with the Erie SeaWolves this season. Perez is the Tigers 12th ranked prospect according to MLB.com and will bat 8th tonight and play second base as the Tigers open a three game series at Comerica Park with the Chicago White Sox.
