SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA (WKZO) -- Normally this time of the year Derek Jeter is counting up his All-Star votes, but this year he is struggling just to be competitive in the minors, testing that shattered ankle he suffered against the Tigers in the playoffs last season.
Kalamazoo’s Yankee says he was actually nervous before his first game back with the Scranton Railriders Saturday.
But he didn’t get to try out the ankle much during the game against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. He walked and went 0 for 2 at the plate the other two times he batted. The only ball he fielded was right to him.
He says he is anxious to get to back to New York, but no time table has been set for his return.
He will be on the Railrider's roster when they take to the field Monday evening.
