OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- It’s the main route from Kalamazoo to the beaches at South Haven and for the next few months it’s going to be reduced to two lanes.
MDOT plans to sink 2-million dollars into repaving, repairing and adding a sidewalk to the M-43 Bridge over U.S. 131.
It carries West Main Street over the divided highway, connecting Kalamazoo with the rest of Oshtemo Township.
There will be periodic ramp closures as well, which will be announced ahead of time, restricting access to U.S. 131. (SEE DETOUR MAP)
It’s the first of a series of major bridge projects over the next four years in Kalamazoo County that will cost the state 65-million dollars to complete.
Traffic disruptions begin Monday. The project should be completed by November 2nd if all goes as planned.
