Porcello throws seven shutout innings, Tigers defeat Indians 7-0

CLEVELAND (WKZO) - Rick Porcello bounced back from a couple of rough starts to have a strong outing against the Cleveland Indians throwing seven shutout innings and recording the victory.  Porcello (5-6) gave up five hits, struck out six, while walking two.  Victor Martinez went 3-3 and recorded three RBIs in the victory.

The Tigers bats provided plenty of offense tonight.  They started the scoring in the second inning as Ramon Santiago drove in two on a single to center.  Miguel Cabrera added another run in the third inning as he drove in Andy Dirks on a single.  The fifth inning in where the Tigers did the most damage as Martinez drove in Dirks and Prince Fielder on a single and later in the inning Jhonny Peralta drove in Fielder and Martinez with a double.  Martinez added the final run in the seventh as he brought home Dirks with a single.

The bullpen closed it out for the Tigers as Al Alburquerque struck out the side in the eighth and Bruce Rondon finished it out in the ninth as he recored two stikeouts.

Detroit (47-38) is now 5-3 on their current road trip.  Anibal Sanchez (6-5 2.76 ERA) is making the start tomorrow for Detroit.  Cleveland sends Carlos Carrasco (0-3 8.17 ERA) to hill to face Detroit.  Broadcast time on AM 590 WKZO is 3:40 pm.
