VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) -- Four occupants of a mini-van managed to escape injury when a train hit their car in Van Buren County.
A 23-year-old Washington man was driving a 1999 Pontiac mini-van with three passengers in the vehicle when he approached a railroad crossing near County Road 215 and County Road 384 around 1 p.m. Monday. In a news release, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department says the man was stopped on a private drive waiting for a freight train to pass, but he had apparently misjudged the distance between the front of his vehicle and the railroad tracks.
The northbound train clipped the front end of the mini-van, but there was no major damage to the vehicle. The four occupants were uninjured and everyone on the train was just fine.
