PLAINWELL (WKZO) -- Leaders in Plainwell are hailing the completion of a long road project that's affected traffic in the city for the past two years. MDOT on Monday was to wrap up the eleven million dollar reconstruction project on M89 from 12th Street to Eighth Street.
Plainwell Economic Development Manager Emilie Schada says that local businesses are ready to start welcoming a flood of customers now that MDOT's gone. They weathered the project pretty well, though, even managing to expand. In fact, Schada says there are eight new businesses that have opened in town during the work.
She says that they'll hold an end of construction celebration on July 20th, featuring a ribbon cutting on the newly improved road, and music from a band called Detour.
