KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A police standoff lasted several hours last night in Kalamazoo Township, but the suspect, who was wanted for domestic assault, eventually gave up early this morning.

Township Police initially responded to the 1000 block of Mosel because a 47-year-old man had assaulted a 30 year old woman.

He was gone when they arrived...headed back for his own place in the 15-hundred block of Seville.

Police followed but he refused to come out making threats. Because he has prior convictions, they called out the Regional SWAT team and he eventually gave up without incident.

He is charged with domestic assault and resisting arrests.

The female victim was treated for minor injuries.
