THORNAPPLE (WKZO) -- Hazardous driving conditions created by recent winter weather have claimed the life of a young man who died trying to navigate on the ice and slush in Barry County’s Thornapple Township. Barry County Sheriff's deputies says they believe the victim’s vehicle may have slid across the centerline on icy M-37 near Garbow Road and slammed into a pick-up truck.
Twenty-one-year-old Theodore Heath of Hastings was dead on arrival at Spectrum Health on Sunday. The truck driver, a 54-yer-old man from Hastings, suffered only minor injuries. Police are investigating to determine if alcohol or drugs may have also contributed to the collision.
