MONTCALM COUNTY (WKZO) -- A group of bystanders is being credited with rescuing a snowmobile rider after his machine fell through the ice on a Montcalm County lake.
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon on Crystal Lake when the ice gave way, tossing 51-year-old David Lawrence Johnson into the frigid water. Bystanders threw a rope to Johnson, and he was taken to Carson City Hospital for observation.
Johnson's snowmobile remains about 20 under water at the bottom of the lake.
