PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Just after midnight Monday, Portage Public Safety responded to a call at the Wendy's on South Westnedge at Van Hoesen about a man that turned up with burns on his hands.  A few minutes later, a resident in the 500-block of West Van Hoesen called to report an explosion.

On arrival, officers found a home with a front porch wall blown off and the windows blown out.  No one was there at the time, but witnesses reported seeing several people fleeing the residence after the blast.

The man with the burnt hands was taken to the hospital and the execution of a search warrant turned up meth lab components at the damaged home.  Portage Public Safety is continuing to investigate.
