WAYNE COUNTY (WKZO) -- If you are an Inmate, it’s the best kind of prison escape, because they don’t even realize you are gone until you are long gone.
Deputies in Wayne County say a man they were holding until he could be sent back to Arizona to face Federal Charges , swapped wristbands with another prisoner, who was about to be released.
He just walked out of the jail 7 Days ago. They didn’t even realize that 34-year-old Rocky Marquez was gone for five days, because their headcount was right every day.
He was being sent back to Arizona because he used the identical ploy to escape from the Lower Buckeye Jail in Maricopa County in 2012. He was being held there for forgery, witness tampering and gun charges.
Marquez has an extensive criminal background, none of it violent.
They say the five day head-start will make it difficult to track him down.
