NORTON SHORES (WKZO) -- Court proceedings against accused murderer Anthony Casanova of Norton Shores have been suspended.
Casanova will undergo a mental examination as a suspect in the death of his two-month-old son. The goal of the tests will be to determine if he is mentally competent to aid in his own defense.
Casanova's attorney, Shawn Davis, requested the testing, after difficulties communicating with his client. Casanova reportedly confessed to investigators that he violently shook the infant, threw him down on a bed, and bear hugged him twice until he stopped breathing.
Casanova has a history of mental health issues.
