CONSTANTINE (KWZO) -- For years, residents of Constantine in St. Joseph County have wanted to re-route US-131 out of downtown. It's finally going to happen, with construction set to begin next month.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is holding an open house next week with village residents to talk about it. That meeting will be held at Constantine High School Monday night from 5 to 7 p.m.
Village President Pat Weiss says getting rid of the highway through the village will help improve safety for pedestrians.
