DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors is hoping a South Korean-built small SUV will be a hit in the U.S. for the Buick division.
The 2013 Buick Encore went on sale over the weekend and has been well received by dealers, according to the automaker. The compact SUV features a turbo-charged four-cylinder engine that reportedly achieves 33-miles per gallon on the highway.
Buick is targeting the vehicle at young professionals and "empty-nesters" and looks to compete directly with the Nissan Juke, BMW X-1, and the Mini Countryman, among others. The addition of the Encore now puts five models in Buick showrooms.
