DETROIT (WKZO) -- Over the next ten years all Toyotas purchased in U.S. may actually be built in North America. Last year just over 70-percent of the Toyotas sold here were built in North American factories.
Toyota vice president Bill Fay says that the goal will be to have no Japanese imports sold in the United States. By the end of this year, Fay says, all Corollas sold in the U.S. will be built in Ontario and Mississippi.
Last year, the automaker invested 1.6-billion dollars in North American facilities and added or announced 35-hundred new jobs. Toyota currently has nine U.S. plants.
