NFL Playoffs Divisional Round Sunday Picks

by

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons 1pm Sunday – Atlanta had been my pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl up until two weeks ago when I switched to the Seahawks. Seattle does the little things that are needed to win playoff games. They run the ball well, Marshawn Lynch has rushed for over 100 yards in five straight games and in nine of the past 11. They don’t turn the ball over, +13 Takeaway/Giveaway. And they play really good defense, allowing a league low 15.3 points per game. Matt Ryan hasn’t faced a secondary as good as the Seahawks all season, and with a running game that will struggle against a stingy Seahawk’s front seven, will be asked to do a lot. In games that Ryan has attempted more than 41 attempts the Falcons are 2-3. The off week doesn’t help the Falcons either. SEATTLE 22 ATLANTA 20

Houston Texans at New England Patriots 4:30pm Sunday – It’s so hard not to want to see another Manning/Brady matchup in the AFC Conference game (NOTE: At the time this was written Denver was winning against Baltimore). But that’s not the only reason I’m taking the Patriots. New England is clicking on all cylinders and the reason is Tom Brady. And who else would you want starting a game for you in the playoffs but Brady? He is 16-6 in the postseason and 10-2 in home playoff games. If Houston falls behind early like they did in their week 14 matchup, this one could get ugly. NEW ENGLAND 34 HOUSTON 23
