PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Not long after the Portage Board of Education set a day for an unusual Due Process Hearing demanded by suspended Portage Schools Superintendent Ric Perry, then they announced another special meeting.
Its set for Monday to consider a “new development” that may make the due process hearing unnecessary. Dr. Perry is charged with being in breach of contract for having an inappropriate relationship with a district employee.
They have been trying to terminate the contract.
The Monday meeting, set for 5:30 p.m. will be closed but any action will have to be taken in public. It’s also come to light that Perry has been assisting a group in Grand Rapids to create a Charter School, and had been working on it for sometime while he was the Superintendent in Portage.
