KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The two suspects in the Robert Medema murder case will be tried separately.
From the beginning, according to police accounts, it’s been fairly clear that the two have had very different stories to tell, 21-year-old Antonio Livingston blaming 52-year-old John Aguilar for the baseball bat assault that led to the death of the Antique store owner.
Judge J. Richardson Johnson ruled that justice would be better served if the two got separate trials.
They are both charged with open and felony murder, armed robbery and first degree home invasion.
The first trial is set to begin February 12th.
