KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It’s been weeks since the Rave Closed and still no announcement on the its future, but DKI Director Steve Deisler did let some clues leak yesterday.
He says one hang-up is that the new firm needs help getting a Liquor License. He also said it would bring an exciting new concept in movie viewing to the community.
As WKZO revealed well over a month ago, one of the few firms that combines alcohol with celluloid is a Texas outfit called Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Along with Popcorn and candy, they serve cocktails and meals. They offer live music at some of their venues and stage film themed events and host festivals at others.
Each one is designed for the community they serve.
Some Muvico and Cobb Theatres also have liquor licenses and AMC theatres have been toying with the idea at some of their locations.
