KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Have you had trouble finding a flu shot lately? Some drug stores and clinics have been using up their supplies faster than they have been able to replenish them. No one can really say why the flu bug made so many people sick so quickly this season. In some cases, its making even people who have been vaccinated ill. Some say it’s a more virulent strain of the Type A virus.
Borgess Healthcare is offering a free flu vaccine clinic today. They have 275 free doses. But Val Bauer with the Visiting Nurses Association says they are for adults only, 18 and above, and no one over 65.
She says those doses come in a different package, with a much smaller needle, which should be of some relief to the queasy, but she says they're just as effective.
For those under 18 or older than 64, they will have regular flu shots available at a cost. They'll be at the Borgess Health and Fitness Center from 7 to 11 a.m friday.
