KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Public Utility Crews were able to find what one worker described as a ‘nasty’ water main break along Kendall Avenue between Howard and West Main, that disrupted water service to hundreds of students in Apartment complexes on either side of Kendall Wednesday Evening.
They say the changing weather and fluctuating temperatures caused buckling and that prompted the pipe to burst, sending thousands of gallons up thru the street, bursting thru the pavement and flooding some apartments.
By 10:30 Wednesday night they had the pipe patched and planned to fill in the hole and put a temporary patch on the roadway. Traffic should be back to normal for the morning rush.
They will come back in the spring and put on a permanent patch.
