LANSING (WKZO) -- Jerry Bergevin escaped a state prison camp in April 1969, and the Michigan Department of Corrections says it's finally giving up looking for him.

If he is still alive, Bergevin is 80-years-old, and state officials have granted him an administrative discharge due to his age and how long it's been since anyone heard from him.  He had been serving time for a 1962 burglary when he got away.

Relatives say that they just want to know what happened to Bergevin after his escape.
