ANN ARBOR (WKZO) -- An internet service provider that serves several Michigan universities went down early overnight.
Merit Networks, a non profit based in Ann Arbor, has now restored internet for all those college kids, says VP of Communications Elwood Downey. He told us the problem was with some equipment in the Chicago area, and all was up and running again around four AM.
Merit serves Western Michigan University, as well as Michigan State, U of M, Grand Valley, and most of the other big ones in the state. Downey says the internet outage was not related to the winter storm.
