BRANCH COUNTY (WKZO) -- A young mother from Bronson is going to jail for allegedly killing her own infant.

Branch County authories says she allegedly bludgeoned her five-month-old daughter to death a year ago this month.  She has been given three to 15-years in prison after initially being charged with homicide.

23-year-old Mariela Flores Valle agreed to plead no-contest to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.  She had been charged with murder and first degree child abuse after the infant died from a fractured skull.
