KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing a report submitted to them by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety regarding the fatal shooting of a Kalamazoo man by an officer.
34-year-old Jacob Grassley was shot by a Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer on January 24th after a day-long search found him at the Best Western Hospitality Inn on East Cork Street. A domestic violence report earlier in the day indicated he that he was armed with two handguns and a rifle, but it's believed he may have been unarmed at the time of his death.
Kalamazoo County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Getting is currently reviewing all reports and materials related to the case to determine if the shooting was justified. In a news release Friday, the Prosecutor's Office said that it may take several weeks before a decision can be made, and that until an announcement can be made there will be no further discussion of the report's contents.
