PORTAGE (WKZO) -- An investigation by Portage Public Safety into a fire at Briargate Apartments in the 300-block of Tudor Circle in Portage on January 4th has determined that the fire was sparked by a meth lab operation.

Over forty residents had to be relocated following the blaze.  Four people are facing charges.

31-year-old Ryan Diemond of Portage has been charged with operating a meth lab and maintaining a drug house.  43-year-old John Shank of Kalamazoo and 42-year-old Eric Harris of Colon have both been charged with operating a meth lab.  28-year-old Angela Diemond was arraigned Thursday on a charge of maintaining a drug house, as well.
