PORTAGE (WKZO) -- It was 50-years ago Monday that Portage Township voters decided to officially incorporate as a city.
The community kicked off its 50th anniversary celebration with the passage of proclamations last week and the Winter Blast Half Marathon and a chilly 500-k yesterday.
They plan a number of event through the year, including a summer concert and the dedication of their newest park. Zachary Baker of Portage and Lauren Baker of Kalamazoo, both 31-years old were the male and female winners of the half marathon.
26-year-old Michael Nasuta and 17-year-old Katie Sorenson, both of Portage took the top spots in the 500-k.
They even have a new logo.
