KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- There has been a lot of controversy about a proposed noise ordinance in Alamo Township. Tonight Kalamazoo City Commissioners will consider appointing a noise task force to sort out some of the same issues.
Its not summer racing they are concerned about, it’s the Arcadia Creek Festival Park and whether its creating noise problems for neighborhoods and whether they should be required to end earlier.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell says some citizens who have been negatively affected have suggested ending events at 10 p.m. Sunday thru Thursday nights and at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Currently they usually end around 1 a.m.
He is proposing a task force that is made up of people from the downtown and festival community, and from the neighborhoods. They would look into any other late night noises emanating from downtown venues as well.
