FLORIDA (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo’s banged up Yankee, Derek Jeter says he plans to be ready to play ball on opening day of the regular season but will probably sit out most of the pre-season.
He met the media at the Yankee’s spring training camp in Florida and says he is mostly recovered from a broken ankle he suffered during game one of the American League Championship Series against the Tigers last fall.
The 38-year-old and 13-time All-Star was having one of his better seasons playing in 159 games last year, batting .316 with 15 homers and 58 runs batted in. He led the American League with 216 hits and finished seventh in the AL MVP voting.
