KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- We were first to tell you three months ago and again last month. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain will be making an announcement this afternoon about whether they plan to take over the now empty Rave Theatre complex in downtown Kalamazoo. A formal news release is reportedly coming this afternoon.

They have been called the “coolest theatres in America”, because instead of soft drinks, they have mixed drinks, along with popcorn and candy, they have restaurants. Some of them have live music venues, and others have whacky or artful movie events.

Each one is different and designed to suit the community its located in.

Part of the hold-up in making the announcement was the effort to secure a liquor license. If true, it will be the first Alamo Drafthouse in Michigan.
