WALKER, MI (WKZO) -- Meijer is set to launch a major project, spending over 160-million dollars and creating 1,500 new jobs by building or remodeling eleven stores.
Six new stores will be built with two each planned for Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. Michigan's stores will be in Detroit and Swartz Creek, and more than a third of the new jobs will be in this state.
Since 2007, the Walker-based grocery chain has opened 29 new stores.
