VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO) -- The condition of the survivor of a fatal head-on collision near the Kalamazoo/Van Buren County border continues to improve after what may have been a weather-related crash on M-43 Thursday night.
State Police say it appears that a Chevy Lumina driven by 48-year-old Tonya Howe of Allegan, slid across the centerline on M-43 near Fish Hatchery Road and slammed into the Mitsubishi Galant driven by 22-year-old Haylee Moore of South Haven, which was coming in the opposite direction.
Both drivers had to be pried out of the wreckage. Howe died at the scene.
Moore was taken to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo for treatment of her injuries where she was listed in fair condition. The accident remains under investigation.
