BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Battle Creek Central High School students knew they had a special guest when they gathered for an assembly at W.K. Kellogg Auditorium, but they were still pretty surprised to see Magic Johnson. The NBA legend gave a motivational speech to the students as part of his trip to the Cereal City for a business meeting at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek.
Johnson spoke to the students for about 45 minutes, telling the kids while he grew up poor in Lansing, he "didn't have poor dreams." He retired from the NBA in 1991 after testing positive for HIV.
