DETROIT (WKZO) -- The federal corruption trial of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, his father Bernard, and friend Bobby Ferguson will be going to the jury.  The defense rested their case without any of the defendants taking the witness stand.

Defense attorneys for Bobby Ferguson called two area businessmen to the stand.  An executive for a Caterpillar equipment dealer and local insurance agent outlined money spent by Ferguson on equipment and premiums to cover the equipment.

The jury will likely hear closing arguments on Monday and could begin deliberations later in the day.  The three men face a number of charges including corruption, extortion and tax evasion.
