BIG RAPIDS, MI (WKZO) -- WMU continued their winning streak tonight beating Ferris State 3-1.
The first period had a flurry of action. Colton Hargrove kept his hot streak going getting the Broncos on the board at 6:46. After a Trevor Elias penalty the Bulldogs were able to knot the game at 1-1 scoring a powerplay goal at 11:49. Elias redeemed himself as he gave the Broncos their lead back just a minute later at 12:50. The Broncos took the lead into the intermission while outshooting the Bulldogs 11-9.
Western Michigan had several chances in the second period outshooting Ferris State 13-5. It wasn't until late at 13:51 that the Broncos finally capitalized as Dane Walters found the back of the net for his 12th goal of the year.
Both teams were unable to get their offenses going in the third period and the Broncos were able to hold on to take the first game of the weekend series 3-1.
